The Esthie Edit: Creating a Unique Branding Experience in an Oversaturated Industry

From a young age, I knew I was an artist. Not the kind who worked with paint and paper, but the kind who worked with vision, feeling, and experience. I’ve always had a creative eye and a deep sense of how color, texture, and energy come together to tell a story. So when I opened my business, I asked myself: why not apply that artistry here?

In an oversaturated industry, where spas and salons can blend together, it’s not enough to just offer services. Branding is what makes people stop, notice, and remember. At Dahlia Beauty Bar, I didn’t want to create another “cookie-cutter” spa. I wanted something professional, yes, but also warm, intentional, and truly inviting. A place where people feel both cared for and inspired.

For me, branding is more than a logo or a pretty Instagram feed. It’s the experience someone has the moment they first hear your name. It’s the colors, the smells, the music, the way the air feels when they walk in.

When I envisioned Dahlia, I drew inspiration from the desert, its warmth, mystique, and grounding rawness. Clay tones, golden light, muted textures. In Ohio’s lush and green landscape, that aesthetic immediately stands out. It’s unexpected, which makes it memorable. The same intention applies to the brands we carry. Everything on our shelves is heavily influenced by nature. Skincare rooted in plants, with natural textures, earthy colors, and scents that ground you. Gentle, yet effective. When someone picks up a product at Dahlia, I want them to feel that it’s been carefully chosen, not just another line you can find anywhere.

Our clients notice the difference right away. A common thing we hear is: “I found you through Google, but I chose you because of the vibe.” Dahlia isn’t clinical, sterile, or cold. Instead, people describe it as open, breathable, earthy, light, and airy. They feel welcomed into a space that holds warmth and authenticity, a space that mirrors nature itself.

That intention also comes from my roots. My Mexican heritage and my love of plants are deeply woven into my work. Plants are living teachers of resilience, balance, and beauty. To me, holistic beauty means honoring both the science of the skin and the wisdom of the earth. It’s about finding harmony between the two and helping others feel connected, whole, and radiant in their own skin.

The Dahlia Beauty Bar website matches the aesthetic of our storefront to create a clear brand identity.

So if you’re building your own brand or business, my advice is simple:

  • Choose colors and textures that feel like you. Don’t just follow trends, create an atmosphere that reflects your story.

  • Be intentional with the details. From products to music to furniture, every choice shapes the experience.

  • Infuse yourself into the brand. People connect with warmth, story, and authenticity more than anything else.

At Dahlia, we’ve embraced a not-your-average day spa vibe, and it’s exactly what makes us stand out. That’s the beauty of unique branding: when you lean into your artistry, your roots, and your vision, you create more than a business, you create an experience people can’t forget.
